WWE Championship Match: Jinder Mahal (c) vs. Randy Orton
The biggest benefactor of the superstar shake up, Jinder Mahal has seen his stock rise all the way to the top since coming over to Smackdown. Remember the hometown “curse”? I expect this to be a brawl, but I doubt WWE will pull the plug on Mahal’s title run. With help from the Singh Brothers, Mahal retains
Winner: Still Champ Jinder Mahal
NO CASH IN
Money in the Bank ladder match: Kevin Owens vs. AJ Styles vs. Sami Zayn vs. Baron Corbin vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Shinsuke Nakamura
Former and future World Champs in this match up.
Nakamura- Nakamura is no doubt a top main event talent. He will easily be WWE champ within the next calendar year. Honestly, he doesn’t need this win here or the briefcase to propel his main event status. He will get there on his own.
AJ Styles- A former WWE Champion, just like Nakamura, AJ doesn’t need this win here or the briefcase. AJ will easily be WWE champion again, (possibly Styles vs Nakamura at Mania for the title) but a win tonight isn’t what Styles needs to get the title back.
Sami Zayn- The “Underdog from the Underground” is tailor-made for this match. His wins over Corbin have been seen as “lucky” and what better way to continue that luck then with a win tonight? However, I highly doubt WWE sees him as a champion at this point of his career.
Kevin Owens- The “New Face of America” the reigning US champion, Owens has done a lot in his WWE careers, expect capture the WWE title. Owens is the perfect heel for a cash in victory, but his run in the US title picture won’t be over any time soon.
Baron Corbin- Rumor has it, Corbin was supposed to challenge Orton for the title at SummerSlam. Not sure if the decision to put the title on Mahal changed any of these plans, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he does get the win here, although I think he still isn’t ready.
Dolph Ziggler- My pick to win! Ziggler hasn’t gotten his fair shake in WWE when it comes to the main event. Even as a transitional champion, Ziggler deserves another title run. I see him easily cashing in and down the road laying out HBK with a superkick (will discuss how we get there later).
My Pick: Dolph Ziggler
WWE’s pick: Baron Corbin
Smackdown Women’s Championship Match: Naomi (c) vs. Lana
Creative shifted the number 1 contendership into the Money in the Bank match thus leaving Naomi on the outside looking in. Enter Lana. Lana returned and was pushed right into the title picture after attacking the champion to make a statement. This match could go either way, but one thing is for sure, this smells like a set up for a cash in.
Winner: MITB cash in
Money in the Bank Ladder match: Becky Lynch vs. Charlotte Flair vs. Natalya vs. Tamina Snuka vs. Carmella
This is an interesting match here. This could be the match of the night as all 5 women will work extra hard to make sure they have the better match. One has to wonder what risks they will take here and since Charlotte likes to moonsault, I see here trying it off the ladder. The question here is, who walks away as the first ever “Miss Money in the Bank”? Becky and Charlotte will easily be in the title picture again, but what about the other 3? Natalya deserves at least 1 more title run before she hands it up. Tamina hasn’t done much in her WWE careers and has probably only lasted this long because of her last name. Can she break out tonight with a win? I doubt it. That leaves us with Carmella. The “Princess of Staten Island” with assist from James Ellsworth will walk out tonight as the first ever “Miss Money in the Bank”
Smackdown Tag Team Championship Match: The Usos (c) vs. The New Day
The New Day are back and right in the title picture. I myself thought Breezango could have worked a little more in the tag title picture, but step aside for the longest reigning tag champs in WWE history. The roles are reversed here as a few years ago The Uso’s were the faces and The New Day were the heels. There is no way The Uso’s drop the belts this fast and will use every advantage they can in order to retain.
Winners: The New Day by DQ/countout
